Job Title: Development Officer
Reports To: Chief Development Officer
Location: Boston, MA
Status: Full-Time, Non-exempt
SALARY: $55,000-$58,000

Overview

We are seeking a passionate and driven individual to join our fundraising team as an entry-level Fundraiser. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our organization's mission by assisting in the development and implementation of fundraising strategies. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and possess excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a strong desire to make a positive impact in our community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Conduct research to identify potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors and supporters through personalized communication and stewardship efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members to create compelling fundraising materials, including appeals, newsletters, and donor programs.
  • Utilize fundraising software and databases to track donor interactions, manage campaigns, and generate reports.
  • Provide administrative support to the fundraising team, including relevant data entry, scheduling meetings, and preparing materials for presentations.
  • Represent the organization at community events and networking functions to promote fundraising initiatives and build relationships.

Work Environment:

Normal for an office environment. Position requires a minimum of four days onsite. Office is climate controlled with heat and air conditioning.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and fundraising goals effectively.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software is a plus.
  • A team player with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the organization's mission and values.
  • Previous experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or customer service is desirable but not required.
